Struzzi Announces Receipt of Restoration Grant by Historic Site
June 3, 2021
HARRISBURG – An Indiana County treasure is being preserved through a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC), according to state Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana).
“At 111 years of ‘age,’ the Blairsville Amory is a unique piece of Indiana County history,” said Struzzi. “Albeit in a much different form than it was originally intended, the armory still provides a service in Blairsville and I’m glad the PHMC sees it that way as well.”
The Friends of Blairsville Communities applied for and has received from the PHMC a more than $16,000 grant, which will be used to upgrade and rehabilitate this historic National Guard armory.
“The armory is home to fitness classes and other community activities,” Struzzi added. “The grant will be used not only for making the facility ADA-compliant, but also making it a welcoming space for a variety of future uses.”
Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Struzzi’s Indiana district office at 724-465-0220.
