Struzzi Recognizes CAP Award Winner
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) is pictured with Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Korbin Erickson, an Indiana Area High School senior, member of Jimmy Stewart Composite Squadron 714 / NER- PA- 253 and recent recipient of CAP’s Amelia Earhart Award.
This achievement, which is earned by only approximately 5% of CAP youth program members, is given to cadets who exhibit excellence in leadership, aerospace, fitness and character. They must pass a comprehensive test on leadership and aerospace and a physical fitness test, passage of which earns them a promotion to the grade of cadet captain.
Captain Cadet Erickson serves at Hawk Mountain Ranger School as a basic staff training squadron training officer, a position that requires organizational and general search and rescue skills. He also earned the Brigadier General Billy Mitchell Award in April of last year and hopes to be an Army Medevac pilot.
