Struzzi Announces Committee Passage of First Responder Tuition Assistance Bill

September 18, 2019

HARRISBURG – Today, the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness passed House Bill 1773, authored by Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana). This bill would create the Tuition Assistance for Active Volunteers Program in Pennsylvania.

Through this program, an active member of a volunteer fire company or EMS agency, who attends an approved institution of higher learning, would be eligible to receive tuition assistance.

“I am thrilled to see this bill passed out of committee, taking the next step in the legislative process,” said Struzzi. “Our volunteer first responder organizations are in dire need of more help, and we hope this incentive will motivate more brave men and women to serve in our local communities.”

The vote was passed unanimously and is now before the House for consideration. More information on the bill can be found at here.
