HARRISBURG – Rep. James Struzzi (R-Indiana) and Sen. Joe Pittman (R-Armstrong/Butler/Indiana/Westmoreland) today announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved a grant of $177,761 for Phase 1 reconstruction of Redding Run Road in Washington Township.
“Redding Run Road is one of the most heavily used roads in Washington Township,” said Struzzi. “This will significantly improve travel for many township residents, as well as those who live in neighboring communities. I was proud to advocate for this funding on behalf of Washington Township.”
Funding for the project was requested by Washington Township and was awarded through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. The total cost of the project is $253,945.
The reconstruction project will address the poor drainage and surface conditions of Redding Run Road. The project consists of resurfacing nearly 1 mile of the road starting at the northern border of Washington Township and South Mahoning Township, reestablishing parallel ditch lines along the road and re-stabilizing the shoulders.
“Rural transportation investment is very important and long overdue,” said Pittman. “I commend Rep. Struzzi and the Washington Township Supervisors for their collaboration on this important project.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
