Struzzi Announces Grants Awarded to Area School for Cafeteria Upgrades

January 28, 2020

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) today announced that the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District has received a grant of $6,462 for upgrades to the Blairsville Senior High School’s cafeteria.

The funds will be used for the purchase and installation of a gas countertop griddle, providing increased access to a wider range of food for students who purchase lunch.

“Students cannot learn to their full potential if they don’t have access to a healthy meal,” said Struzzi. “These funds will go a long way in making sure that every student gets the essential meals they need to be at their best throughout the day.”

Funding for the grants is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is awarded to schools which participate in the National School Lunch Program and have 50 percent or more of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Schools often use the grants to purchase new refrigerators, freezers, stoves and dishwashers.
