Struzzi to Rename Cambria County Bridge

WHAT: State Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) will host a ceremony to officially rename the State Route 271 (also referred to as 24th St.) bridge that crosses the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Northern Cambria Borough as the Sergeant William Stock Memorial Bridge. Struzzi authored the original legislation, House Bill 56, which was signed into law in June as Act 17 of 2021.
Stock, a former resident of Northern Cambria, served his country in the United States Air Force with the 49th Munitions Maintenance Squadron and returned home to serve his community as a coal miner with both the Barnes and Tucker and Tanoma Mining coal companies. He died Aug. 19, 2018, at the age of 64.
WHEN: This Friday, Oct. 8, 4 p.m.
WHERE: The renaming ceremony will be held at Spangler VFW Post 7503, located at 710 19th St., Northern Cambria. To reach the bridge from the VFW, travel north on Route 219/Bigler Ave. less than a half mile and turn left onto 24th St.
