– State Reps. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) and Kyle Mullins (D-Lackawanna) have been selected to serve as co-chairmen of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Caucus in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2023-24 session.
“It is an honor to be asked to serve in this capacity, especially with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in my district,” Struzzi said. “PASSHE is adapting to the changing needs of students and the workforce while maintaining a high-quality and affordable education. The system is working with the private sector to align degree and short-term credential programs for in-demand jobs and create flexibility for adults to open doors of opportunity re-skilling or up-skilling.”
The caucus primarily consists of PASSHE alumni and/or House members in whose districts PASSHE schools reside.
“Our State System universities provide a world-class education to tens of thousands of students every year,” added Mullins. “My parents met at Mansfield University many years ago and I’m exceptionally proud of my West Chester degree and the opportunities it provided. So, as a grateful ‘product’ of the State System, I begin the role of Caucus co-chair with a sincere interest of keeping our institutions strong and accessible to future generations.”
