HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) announced today that multiple school districts in the 62nd District received funding to improve safety, security and mental health support from the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC).
The SSSC approved $155 million in federal and state school safety funding from the Noncompetitive School Mental Health Grants program, the Formula-Based School Safety and Security Meritorious Grants program, Competitive School Safety and Security Grants program and Targeted School Safety Grants for Nonpublic Schools funding program, appropriated in the FY 2023-24 state budget.
“I am happy to see our schools receive this funding to keep our students safe and provide mental health support,” shared Struzzi. “Improving the quality of education must always be a top priority for legislators; this funding will help our schools do exactly that.”
The following schools serving students in the 62nd District received grants:
• Homer-Center School District, $546,339.
• Indiana Area School District, $174,601.
• Indiana County Technology Center, $70,000.
• Penns Manor Area School District, $348,652.
• River Valley School District, $152,344.
• United School District, $141,672.
• ARIN IU 28, $70,000.
